...you know I drink water laced with awesome electrolytes while I skate and workout. While I think my obsession has a bit to do with the caffeine I get from my favorite electrolyte tab, I like to think I've also grown accustomed to the body benefits of electrolyte replacement.
If you're new to working out, you may have had your share of electrolyte deficiency symptoms, but chalked them up to the aches and pains of working out. Symptoms include:
- Muscle cramps
- Muscle weakness or paralysis
- Muscle spasms
While these symptoms are caused by different specific nutrient losses, an electrolyte replacement product that includes sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium, and calcium will help fight off all these symptoms.
Not sure which kind to try? My pick is Camelbak's Elixir tablets. They contain all the essential nutrients listed above, make your water slightly fizzy, have a great taste, and can just be tossed into a reusable water bottle. I've never had a problem with the taste going sour or affecting my bottle and I've been using them for over 3 years regularly. (Note: I'm not a paid representative of Camelbak nor am I actually a fan of most of their products. I honestly use this stuff and recommend it because I believe in it.)
